Ingredients

  • baby potato500 g
  • oil1 tbsp
  • red chilli powder1 tsp
  • garlic powder1 tsp
  • saltto taste

Method

  1. Prep the potatoes

Wash the baby potatoes and pat them fully dry, then halve each one. Drying the surface first helps the cut faces brown and crisp instead of steaming in their own moisture.

  2. Season the potatoes

Toss the potato halves with the oil, red chilli powder, garlic powder and salt until evenly coated. Rubbing oil over each piece helps the spices stick and the skins crisp up nicely.

  3. Arrange in the basket

Place the potato halves cut side down in a single layer in the basket. The flat cut side against the hot basket sears into a golden, crisp face while the inside stays soft.

  4. First fry

Air fry at 200°C for 12 min, then shake the basket to turn the pieces. Shaking partway stops them sticking and brings the paler sides into the heat for even colour.

  5. Finish cooking

Air fry at 200°C for 6 min until the potatoes are crisp outside and soft when pierced with a fork. That easy give under a fork is the sign the centres are fully cooked.
