Ingredients

  • Tortilla chips4 cups
  • Cooked seasoned ground beef1.5 cups
  • Black beans, boiled or canned1 cup
  • Shredded cheese blend1.5 cups
  • Pickled jalapenos1/3 cup
  • Diced tomato1/2 cup

Method

  1. Line the pan

Set a sheet of foil or a small baking tin inside the basket to hold everything in place. This gives the nachos a solid base and keeps the melting cheese from dripping through the holes.

  2. Build the base

Spread half the tortilla chips in an even layer, then scatter over half the beef, beans, and cheese. Layering like this rather than piling it all on top means every chip gets a fair share.

  3. Add the second layer

Repeat with the rest of the chips, beef, and beans, then finish with a thick blanket of cheese. Tuck the jalapenos in among the layers so they soften and mellow as the cheese melts.

  4. Watch the edges

Position the tray so the outer chips do not poke up into the hottest airflow and scorch. Keeping the heat gentle here protects the thin chips while giving the cheese time to melt right through.

  5. Air-fry to melt

Air-fry at 175°C for 6 min until the cheese is fully molten and bubbling and the beef is piping hot right through. Scatter the fresh diced tomato over the top just before serving.
