Ingredients
- Mixed berries2 cups
- Rolled oats1/2 cup
- Plain flour1/3 cup
- Brown sugar1/4 cup
- Cold butter1/4 cup
Method
Sweeten the fruit
Toss the mixed berries with a spoonful of the brown sugar so they start to release their juice and sweeten. Divide them between small oven-safe ramekins, filling each about two-thirds full to leave room for the topping.
Make the crumble
Rub the cold butter into the flour, oats and remaining brown sugar with your fingertips until it clumps. Aim for a mix of fine, sandy bits and larger pebbly lumps, as that mix gives the best crunch on top.
Top the cups
Scatter the crumble generously over the fruit, mounding it slightly in the centre. Do not press it down, because leaving it loose lets the hot air flow through and crisp every bit of the topping.
Position the cups
Arrange the ramekins in the basket with gaps between them so the heat can circulate around each one. If your basket is open-weave, sit a small tray underneath to catch any juice that bubbles over.
Air-fry until bubbling
Air-fry at 170C for 14 min until the topping is golden and the berries bubble up around the edges. Let them cool for five minutes so the hot fruit thickens and settles before you serve.
