Ingredients

  • bread roll2
  • egg2
  • cheese1/4 cup
  • butter1 tsp
  • black pepper1/4 tsp

Method

  1. Hollow the rolls

Cut the tops off the bread rolls and scoop out some of the soft inside to make a deep hollow. Brush the inside with butter. A roomy, buttered well holds the egg neatly and crisps the bread so it does not go soggy.

  2. Crack in the egg

Crack an egg into each hollow, then add the cheese and a pinch of black pepper. Keep the egg below the rim so it does not run over the side, and the cheese on top melts into a golden lid as it bakes.

  3. Arrange upright

Place the filled rolls upright in the basket so they sit level and the egg stays pooled inside. If they lean, prop them against each other so no egg spills out before it sets.

  4. Air fry

Cook until the egg sets and the bread crisps. Air fry at 170°C for 12 min until the whites are firm and the yolks are fully set, with no clear runny liquid left on top.
