Ingredients
- Shelled edamame1.5 cups
- Garlic powder1 tsp
- Red chilli flakes1 tsp
- Olive oil1 tbsp
- Sea saltto taste
Method
Thaw and dry
If you are using frozen edamame, thaw the beans and pat them completely dry. Any surface water stops them roasting and turns to steam, leaving them soft instead of lightly crisp.
Toss with seasoning
Coat the beans in the olive oil first, then sprinkle over the garlic powder, chilli flakes and salt. Tossing in oil before the spices helps everything cling evenly to each bean.
Spread evenly
Tip the edamame into the basket in a single layer so they roast rather than steam. A crowded basket holds moisture and keeps the beans soft instead of blistered and crisp.
Air-fry the edamame
Cook at 195°C for 12 min, shaking the basket twice through cooking. Remove the beans when they are blistered and lightly crisp, with browned, toasty edges.
