Ingredients
- zucchini2 medium
- olive oil1 tbsp
- garlic powder0.5 tsp
- black pepper0.5 tsp
- salt0.5 tsp
Method
Slice
Cut the zucchini into even rounds, roughly half a centimetre thick, so they all cook at the same rate. Rounds cut too thin will burn while thick ones stay raw, so keeping them uniform is the key to an even finish.
Season
Toss the rounds with the olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper until lightly and evenly coated. A thin film of oil helps the surface brown and the seasoning cling, while the salt now draws out water for a firmer bite.
Arrange
Place the rounds in a single layer without stacking them. Zucchini holds a lot of water, so piling it up makes it steam and go soggy, while a single spaced layer lets the edges dry out and turn golden.
Air fry
Air fry at 190°C for 12 min, flipping once halfway, until the edges are golden and the centres are tender. Flipping partway stops the down-facing side from sitting in its own moisture and going pale.
