Ingredients
- avocado2, halved
- egg4 small
- cheese3 tbsp grated
- salt1/4 tsp
- chilli flakes1/4 tsp
Method
Prepare
Halve the avocados and lift out the stones, then scoop out a little extra flesh from each hollow so it is wide enough to hold a small egg. Use avocados that are ripe but still firm so the boats keep their shape in the heat.
Steady the base
Trim a thin sliver off the rounded underside of each half so it sits flat and level. A steady, level base stops the boat tipping over in the basket and spilling the egg before it has had a chance to set.
Fill
Crack a small egg carefully into each hollow, then scatter over the cheese, salt and a pinch of chilli flakes. Use small eggs so they sit inside the well without overflowing, which keeps the white from running out.
Settle
Lower the filled boats carefully into the basket, keeping them level so the raw egg stays in its well. Nestle them against each other or the basket wall if needed so none of them tilt while the egg is still liquid.
Air fry
Air fry at 180°C for 13 min until the egg whites are fully set with no runny clear patches and the cheese is melted and golden. Check the white nearest the yolk, as that part sets last. Eat straight away with a spoon.
