Ingredients
- chicken wings600 g
- five spice powder1.5 tsp
- soy sauce2 tbsp
- honey1 tbsp
- garlic3 cloves
- ginger1 tsp grated
- sesame seeds1 tsp
Method
Marinate the wings
Mix the five spice powder, soy sauce, honey, crushed garlic and grated ginger in a bowl. Coat the wings well and rest them for 30 minutes, giving the salt and spices time to sink in and season the meat.
Arrange in the basket
Place the wings in a single layer, skin side down, with space between each piece. Starting skin side down and leaving gaps lets the hot air render the fat and crisp the skin instead of steaming it.
Air fry, turning once
Air fry at 200°C for 16 min, flipping halfway, until the skin starts to crisp and colour. Turning them once means both sides brown evenly rather than one staying pale against the basket floor.
Finish and check doneness
Air fry at 200°C for 4 min until the wings are deep golden and reach 74°C inside with clear juices and no pink at the bone. Scatter the sesame seeds over the top before serving.
