Ingredients
- Frozen hash brown patties4 patties
- Oil spray2 spritz
- Salt1 pinch
- Smoked paprika1/4 tsp
Method
Keep them frozen
Do not thaw the patties; cooking them straight from frozen gives the crispest result. Lay them out separately so the surfaces stay dry and the shreds do not clump together into a soft, wet mass.
Season and oil
Spritz both sides lightly with oil and dust with the salt and smoked paprika for a gently smoky lift. That thin film of oil is what crisps the shredded edges into a deep golden crust.
Arrange flat
Place the patties in a single layer with space around each one so air can reach every side. Avoid stacking them, which traps steam between the layers and softens the crust you are trying to build.
Air-fry until golden
Air-fry at 200°C for 14 min, flipping once halfway through. They are done when deep amber all over and audibly crisp at the corners, which tells you the shredded edges have properly fried.
