Ingredients
- Ground beef500g
- Breadcrumbs1/2 cup
- Egg1
- Grated parmesan1/3 cup
- Dried oregano1 tsp
- Garlic, minced2 cloves
Method
Combine gently
Mix the beef, breadcrumbs, egg, parmesan, oregano and garlic with a light hand. Overworking the mince makes the meatballs dense and tough.
Rest the mix
Let the seasoned mixture sit for ten minutes so the breadcrumbs absorb moisture. This rest helps the meatballs hold together and stay juicy.
Roll evenly
Shape into balls about the size of a golf ball, wetting your hands to stop sticking. Uniform sizing ensures they finish cooking together.
Arrange spaced
Place the meatballs in the basket with a little gap so hot air circulates. A quick oil mist deepens the browning on top.
Shake midway
Pause partway through and gently roll the meatballs for all-round colour. Turning prevents flat spots where they touch the basket.
Air-fry through
Air-fry at 195C for 13 minutes until well browned and cooked through with no pink centre. Rest briefly so the juices redistribute before serving.
