Ingredients
- flour1 cup
- milk1/2 cup
- egg1
- sugar2 tbsp
- baking powder1 tsp
- oil2 tbsp
Method
Make the batter
Whisk the flour, baking powder, sugar, milk, egg and oil into a thick, smooth batter that drops slowly off the spoon. A thicker batter holds the waffle ridges better than a runny one, which just spreads flat and loses its shape.
Fill the waffle mould
Pour the batter into a greased silicone waffle-stick mould, filling each groove level to the top. Spread it into the corners with a spoon so the sticks come out with crisp, well defined edges rather than rounded ones.
Load the basket
Set the mould into the basket so hot air can reach every side of it. Keep it raised off the base if your basket allows, because letting heat circulate underneath cooks the sticks through evenly.
Air fry
Air fry at 180°C for 10 min until the sticks are firm to the touch and golden brown on top. A firm, set surface tells you the egg batter is cooked through. Let them cool for a minute so they lift out without breaking.
