Ingredients
- Salmon fillets, skin-on2 (180 g each)
- Honey2 tbsp
- Soy sauce1 tbsp
- Garlic, minced3 cloves
- Lemon juice1 tbsp
- Chili flakes1/2 tsp
Method
Pat the fillets
Dry the salmon well and season both sides lightly with salt and pepper. Dry fish takes on the glaze better and crisps at the edges instead of steaming in its own moisture.
Whisk the glaze
Combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, lemon juice and chili flakes into a smooth glaze. Reserve half for brushing on after cooking so it stays glossy and does not scorch.
Marinate briefly
Brush half the glaze over the fillets and let them sit for 10 minutes. This short rest lets the garlic and honey settle into the surface of the flesh.
Preheat the basket
Warm the air fryer to 200C for a couple of minutes and lightly oil the basket. A hot start helps the salmon release cleanly and sear rather than stick and tear.
Air-fry and finish
Air-fry skin-side down at 200C for 9 min, until the top is caramelised and the centre flakes easily with a fork. Brush with the reserved glaze right after cooking for a glossy finish.
