Ingredients
- Halloumi block250 g
- Cornflour3 tbsp
- Smoked paprika1 tsp
- Dried oregano1 tsp
- Olive oil sprayas needed
Method
Cut and dry
Slice the halloumi block into thick finger-width batons and blot them dry with paper towel. Removing surface moisture is what lets the coating grip and crisp instead of steaming.
Season the dredge
Mix the cornflour with the smoked paprika and oregano in a shallow dish. The cornflour forms the crackly shell while the paprika lends warm colour and a gentle smokiness.
Coat each baton
Roll every halloumi finger in the seasoned cornflour, pressing lightly so it clings on all sides. Shake off any loose excess to avoid a chalky finish.
Mist and arrange
Lay the fries in a single layer in the basket and spray them all over with olive oil. Leave gaps between them so hot air circulates and every side browns.
Air-fry to golden
Cook at 200C for 10 minutes, turning the fries halfway through for even colour. Pull them out the moment the edges are deep gold, as halloumi firms quickly once it cools.
